SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A federal judge in Utah has thrown out a lawsuit brought by snowboarders against one of the last ski resorts in the country to prohibit their sport. The ruling is a victory for Alta Ski Area east of Salt Lake City. Alta attorneys argued their snowboarding ban was within the ski area's rights.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A business executive trying to unseat six-term Republican U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop is calling on voters to end Bishop's tenure in Congress because of his role in last year's government shutdown and inaction in Congress. During a debate yesterday in Ogden, Democrat Donna McAlleer called Bishop a "guardian of gridlock" who does not deserve another term. Bishop blamed the Senate for the gridlock.
MURRAY, Utah (AP) — Several lanes of a freeway interchange near Murray have reopened after crews cleaned up an overturned semi-trailer that was hauling boxes of cereal. The Utah Highway Patrol says the semi-trailer overturned, blocking several lanes and spilling boxes of cereal across the road. Troopers say the accident triggered several other accidents.
WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) — A body found by hunters 15 miles north of Leavenworth has been identified as a Utah man, 26-year-old Yannick Chancey Periou of St. George. The Chelan County sheriff's office said there is still no indication of the cause of death. The body was badly decomposed when it was found Aug. 31 just off a Forest Service road by two men who were scouting hunting sites
