SODA SPRINGS, Idaho (AP) — Authorities in eastern Idaho have recovered the body of a Blackfoot man who went missing in the Blackfoot Reservoir last week.

The Caribou County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Monday that the body of 52-year-old Richard Lee Scherbel was recovered Saturday evening.

Caribou County Sheriff Ric Anderson says some boaters spotted the body and alerted authorities.

Anderson says the death is considered an accidental drowning. No additional investigation is planned.

Authorities began searching the reservoir on Sept. 15 after family members reported finding Scherbel's partially submerged boat that he had taken to go fishing.

Anderson says Scherbel had a life vest in the boat but wasn't wearing it.
