MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (AP) — Part of the re-development of the former Morristown College site may include housing for the elderly.
The Citizen-Tribune (http://bit.ly/1modYKi) reports that two Knoxville-based developers recently purchased the property of the African American higher education institution, which was founded in 1881.
The property has been blight on city planners' radar for more than a decade.
However, developers Brant and Amy Enderle, and their development partners, are in the beginning stages of a long-term development plan.
They recently met with neighborhood residents and others interested in the historic location.
Developers say at least some component of the development may be senior housing, either independent living or assisted living.
A recent study they did showed such services could be used in Hamblen County.
