CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Austin Brown threw for 153 yards and Charleston Southern held on to beat The Citadel 20-18 on Saturday night.

Charleston Southern (4-0) took a 17-3 lead early in the third quarter when Darius Hammond returned a punt 74 yards for a score. But The Citadel (0-3) pulled within two points after Isiaha Smith ran in a one-yard touchdown followed by a successful two-point conversion.

The Citadel had a final chance to take the lead in the final minutes, but Charleston Southern forced Smith to fumble near midfield with 1:26 to play and the Buccaneers were able to run down the clock.

Brown scored one rushing touchdown. Colton Korn had five receptions for 75 yards.

Aaron Miller completed just 2 of 11 passes for 20 yards, but finished with 120 yards rushing on 20 carries for The Citadel.
