BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Michael Eubank scored four of Samford's eight rushing touchdowns and passed for one more score to lead his team to a 63-21 win over Virginia Military Institute in the Southern Conference opener for both teams Saturday.

Denzel Williams added 178 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries, including a 61-yard score on Samford's opening drive. Eubank ran in four touchdowns in the first half, and threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Karel Hamilton in the first quarter. The Bulldogs went into halftime with a 49-0 lead.

Samford (2-1) ran for 433 yards overall. Krondis Larry contributed 128 yards and a score on 10 carries.

VMI (1-3) was held to 119 yards on the ground and committed four turnovers in the first half. Al Cobb was 18 of 25 for 117 yards and threw two interceptions. Jabari Turner ran for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
