GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — East Carolina has suspended receiver Cam Worthy for two games for violating the school's code of student conduct.

The school announced Worthy's suspension about 90 minutes before Saturday's kickoff against North Carolina, saying it stemmed from a "verbal disagreement" with a male student on campus late in the summer.

The school's office of student affairs notified fifth-year coach Ruffin McNeill of the suspension after holding a review hearing prior to the UNC game. The suspension bars Worthy from extra-curricular activities through Oct. 4.

Worthy, a native of Blair, South Carolina, had six catches for a career-high 224 yards in last week's upset of then-No. 17 Virginia Tech on the road.
