BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Health officials say 17 cases of West Nile have been reported in North Dakota.

Officials say eight people have been hospitalized and one death has been attributed this year to the mosquito-borne virus.

State health officials have been monitoring the West Nile virus since 2002 and cases have been reported in every county in North Dakota.

Last year, there were 127 West Nile virus cases in humans and two deaths.
