BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Baton Rouge police say a former employee of the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center has been arrested in Tacoma, Washington, almost a month after he had been accused of using company credit cards for personal expenses.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely, a Baton Rouge police spokesman, says the center's former director of facilities, 49-year-old Larry Butler, admitted in emails to the center's human resources department that he spent more than $16,000 of the center's money on his own purchases. McKneely said Butler made no efforts to repay the center.
Police tell The Advocate (http://bit.ly/XnwqH5 ) the purchases came to light only after Butler told the center he had another job, and was then fired.
Butler was arrested on Monday.
