IRVING, Texas (AP) — Tony Romo missed practice Wednesday with tightness in his surgically repaired back, although the Dallas quarterback called it a routine day of rest.

It was the first practice Romo has missed since the start of the regular season. He took several days off during training camp and the preseason.

The 34-year-old Romo had surgery to repair a herniated disk in December, eight months after a procedure to remove a cyst from his back that kept him out of the offseason last year.

Romo says his back is fine after taking every snap in the first two games. He does extensive daily conditioning work on the back.

The Cowboys (1-1) visit St. Louis on Sunday.
