TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals have signed outside linebacker Victor Butler.

Butler played four seasons for the Dallas Cowboys, appearing in 63 games, two as a starter. He was with the New Orleans Saints last season but was on the physically unable to perform list with a knee injury. Butler, a fourth-round draft pick out of Oregon State five years ago, was released by the Saints on Aug. 26.

The Cardinals released linebacker Marcus Benard and punter Drew Butler. Benard was signed a week ago when outside linebacker John Abraham took a leave of absence after sustaining a concussion. Abraham returned to the team this week.

Drew Butler was Arizona's punter the last two games because Dave Zastudil was out with a groin injury.
