JEROME, Idaho (AP) — Fire officials in south-central Idaho say a fire that appears to have started on the outside of a home occupied by an elderly woman could be arson.
Jerome Fire Chief Tom Hughes tells The Times-News (http://bit.ly/1pgPEF9) that firefighters responded about 8:20 a.m. Sunday and quickly extinguished the fire that involved about 30 percent of the house.
Hughes says a neighbor reported the fire and with his friend entered the house to alert the resident who was unaware of the fire. She escaped and no one was injured.
Hughes says investigators are looking into the cause of the fire but it appears to be arson.
A damage estimate wasn't provided.
