TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — D.J. Foster chose Arizona State over numerous other big-name programs for a chance to stay home.
His sister, Jennifer, had died a few years earlier and he wasn't ready to be out on his own.
Foster's decision has worked out quite nicely for him and the 16th-ranked Sun Devils.
Foster played multiple positions his first two seasons in Tempe, spending most of his time catching passes, not taking handoffs.
He became Arizona State's featured back this season and has flourished.
Foster ran for a career-high 216 yards against New Mexico last week to become the first ASU back to go over 200 yards in 13 years, and he enters Saturday's game against Colorado third nationally with 363 yards rushing.
