COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — A Swedish kindergarten teacher trainee has been sentenced to psychiatric care after he was convicted of raping and sexually abusing 14 children.

The city court in Kalmar, southern Sweden, says the 21-year-old man, who was not identified, also was convicted of spreading child pornography for posting online videos and photos he took of the assaults.

The court said it had based Wednesday's ruling on a medical report that had concluded the defendant "was suffering from a serious mental disorder."

The man admitted assaulting the children, aged 2 to 6, during an internship in a kindergarten north of Kalmar from January to April.
