Keselowski wins at Richmond...Newman and Biffle in Chase...Hokies stun Ohio State

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Brad Keselowski routed the field for his fourth win of the season, a victory that gives him the top seed in NASCAR's Chase for the 10-race Sprint Cup championship that starts next Sunday at Chicagoland Speedway. Ryan Newman and Greg Biffle were the final two drivers to qualify for the 16-driver Chase field.

NEW YORK (AP) — There were two major upsets in the men's semifinals at the U.S. Open. The bottom line is that the final on Monday will feature 14th-seed Marin Cilich (CHIHL'-ch) against tenth-seed Kei Nishikori (KAY nesh-ih-KOHR'-ee) of Japan. They beat respectively No. 2 Roger Federer and No. 1 Novak Djokovic (NOH'-vak JOH'-kuh-vich).

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Michael Brewer passed for 199 yards and two touchdowns and Virginia Tech's defense stood tough at the end and the Hokies stunned No. 8 Ohio State 35-21. Keyshoen Jarrett had two interceptions and Donovan Riley returned another 63 yards for a TD in the final minute as a record crowd of 107,517 watched in the enlarged Ohio Stadium horseshoe.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Alabama, the second-ranked team in The Associated Press Top-25 poll, upped its record to 2-0 with a 41-0 abbreviated game with Florida Atlanta. With both teams permission the game was called with 7:53 left because of lightning in the Tuscaloosa area.

MILWAUKEE (AP)— Matt Adams and Oscar Taveras homered, and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 5-3 to open a four-game lead in the NL Central. Lance Lynn pitched six effective innings as St. Louis won for the seventh time in its last eight games. The Brewers have lost 10 of 11.
