Marc Giauque reportingSome new twists on some well-known phishing scams are surfacing in Utah.
One e-mail promised money for people who clicked on a Web site to take a survey about their credit union service. Another scheme showed up on cell phones as a message telling people they needed to contact their financial institution.
Both cases generated a lot of calls to authorities.
"Consumers are making contact in calling, in letting the news media know, letting businesses know. [I think that] is very important. However, having said that, phishing schemes are alive and well," said Department of Commerce Executive Director Francine Giani.
She says once you give away key financial information, it's very difficult to get back.
