Cal Fire reports that firefighters have contained about 25 percent of the blaze. An additional 400 homes are being advised to evacuate. No damage has been reported.

DETROIT (AP) — Utility crews are working to restore power to about 350,000 homes and businesses in the Detroit area after damaging storms blew through last night. Storms also knocked out power to tens of thousands of homes and business in the Chicago area yesterday.

FREETOWN, Sierra Leone (AP) — Sierra Leone's government is planning to put the country into lockdown for three days later this month to try to stop the spread of Ebola. A government spokesman says people will be ordered to stay inside their homes on Sept. 19, 20 and 21. He says the dates were chosen to give people enough time to stock up on food and other provisions before the ban on movement goes into effect. Ebola has killed more than 2,000 people across West Africa, including more than 400 in Sierra Leone.

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — A cease-fire in Ukraine's rebellious east is largely holding though both sides are claiming the other has violated the agreement. A spokesman for Ukraine's national security council says rebels fired at Ukrainian forces on 10 occasions last night after the cease-fire was to take effect. Meanwhile, the top separatist leader says Ukraine's forces violated the cease-fire with two rounds of shelling southeast of Donetsk. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says he and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed steps "for giving the cease-fire a stable character" in a telephone conversation today.
