NORTHFIELD, Vt. (AP) — Officials at Norwich University say a museum on its Northfield campus has been designated the first and only Smithsonian Affiliate in the state of Vermont.
The school is planning an event Tuesday to celebrate the designation that will include guided tours of the Sullivan Museum and History Center.
The center is a 16,000-square-foot facility that features permanent and changing exhibitions, learning stations, a conservation lab, space for exhibit preparation and object storage, a fully equipped electronic classroom and conference space.
There is also a reference room for researchers.
The museum became associated with the Smithsonian earlier this year.
