CHICAGO (AP) — The Detroit Tigers have purchased the contract of left-hander Kyle Ryan from Triple-A Toledo before Saturday's split-doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday.

To make room for Ryan, the Tigers designated right-hander reliever Justin Miller for assignment. In eight appearances, he was 1-0 with a 5.11 ERA.

Ryan will start the nightcap of the doubleheader and make his major league debut. After being promoted from Double-A Erie, the 22-year old left-hander was 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA for Triple-A Toledo.
