NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — The Canyon County coroner says a southwest Idaho woman found dead in a cornfield died of blunt force trauma to the head. The body of 36-year-old Selena Thomas was found last week near Melba. Officers began searching in the field after Thomas' boyfriend reportedly told officers he buried her in the corn field with the help of three other men. Alfredo Martinez has not been charged in Thomas' death.
NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — A 20-year-old southwest Idaho man police say tried to arrange the killing of his former girlfriend has been taken into custody. The Nampa Police Department says officers arrested Kenneth O'Brien of Nampa. O'Brien is being held in the Canyon County Jail on $50,000 bail.
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Officials in Twin Falls County in south-central Idaho want other counties to start helping in the fight against a disease-spreading pest that can cause illness in livestock and humans. The flies carry a virus that mimics foot-and-mouth disease in animals and resembles influenza in humans. Pest officials say controlling black flies is best done by targeting larvae in canals and rivers before they hatch.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — Law enforcement at Yellowstone National Park is investigating the death a woman who worked there. Park officials say 21-year-old Kassandra Wieferich was found dead Tuesday night in the Old Faithful Lodge area. Officials started searching for Wieferich on Tuesday after she missed shifts at work.
