LONDON (AP) — Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has been ruled out the Champions League playoff against Besiktas on Wednesday and the team is waiting to discover the severity of his foot injury.

Giroud may be facing an extended spell on the sidelines after getting hurt in a 2-2 draw with Everton in the Premier League on Saturday, seconds after scoring.

The 27-year-old France international has undergone two scans and is due to see a specialist on Wednesday.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says "it can be (long term), we'll see."

Arsenal, chasing a spot in the group stage of the Champions League, drew 0-0 at Besiktas in the first leg.
