Jon Dunn ReportingThousands of illegal immigrants across the country were rounded up not only because of their status, but because they are also accused of crimes.
Since May 26, immigration and customs enforcement officials have arrested nine gang members who are in Utah illegally.
ICE assistant agent-in-charge Joseph Romel says the gang members and others they are rounding up are part of an ongoing project called "Operation Community Shield," but he expects most of the nine to be back in the state soon.
"If they're savvy and they want to come back, they could do so in two or three days," says Romell.
Romell says they are busy with these types, but are also dealing with many illegal immigrants they catch coming into Utah.
