(KSL News) Polygamist John Daniel Kingston was back in court today, but not for the last time.
Kingston and wife, Heidi Mattingly, faced abuse and neglect charges two years ago. Mattingly has since regained custody of their children and Kingston received unsupervised visitation rights.
However, the judge determined that Kingston did not complete the requirements set forth by the court when he received those rights. As part of the court order, Kingston was supposed to complete a domestic violence course and meet with a psychologist to learn strategies for relating with children.
Despite the setback, Kingston and Mattingly were hopeful for the future.
Heidi Mattingly: "The kids are doing well. They of course wish that Mom and Dad weren't always coming to court, but they'll deal with it."
The judge did make arrangements for child support money to be released to Mattingly. Until now, money paid by Kingston had been held by the state.
