FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Protests are continuing in Ferguson, Missouri, over the fatal shooting of a black teenager by a white police officer. Another peaceful protest quickly deteriorated Sunday night after marchers pushed toward one end of a street. Police tried to push them back by firing tear gas. Many of the marchers retreated, but a group of about 100 stood defiantly about two blocks away until getting hit by another volley.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — The uncle of police shooting victim Michael Brown says his nephew would oppose the violence that's been plaguing Ferguson, Missouri. Pastor Charles Ewing told Sunday worshippers at Jennings Mason Temple Church in St. Louis what he believes his nephew was thinking before he was shot: "I believe in God. I got my hands up. I surrender." Ewing said although Brown was "gunned down," the family is appealing for peace in the community.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House says President Barack Obama has notified Congress that an expanded U.S. air campaign in Iraq will be limited in duration and scope. The U.S. is attacking Islamic State militants in support of Iraqi forces who are trying to regain control of the strategic Mosul dam. The White House says the failure of the dam could threaten many lives.

UNDATED (AP) — Two experienced skydivers are dead in accidents that occurred Sunday on opposite ends of the country. A 35-year-old man died in a skydiving accident at Sanderson Field in Shelton, Washington, in the afternoon. And police say a 37-year-old Boston skydiver was killed during a morning jump in Pepperell, Massachusetts.

CANTON, N.Y. (AP) — A prosecutor says additional charges are planned against a northern New York couple accused of kidnapping two young Amish sisters on Wednesday and sexually assaulting them before they were freed on Thursday. Stephen Howells Jr. and Nicole Vaisey were arrested Friday and charged in the case.
