DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Personal Diary won the $300,000 Del Mar Oaks for 3-year-old fillies by 2 3/4 lengths on Saturday.

Ridden by Corey Nakatani in his only mount on the card, Personal Diary ran 1 1/8 miles on the turf in 1:47.56 and paid $20.20, $7 and $5 at 9-1 odds.

Stellaris returned $10.80 and $6 at 11-1 odds, while My Conquestadory was another neck back in third and paid $4 to show.

Sea Queen, the 7-5 favorite, finished fourth.

Nakatani hadn't ridden since last Sunday because of the flu. He rallied Personal Diary from eighth and last in the early stages to the victory.

"I'm feeling better; still not there yet, but better," he said. "I'm 10 times better than I was before."

Nakatani won the Del Mar Oaks for the fourth time, giving him 101 stakes wins at Del Mar, second only to Chris McCarron with 134.

The victory, worth $180,000, increased Personal Diary's career earnings to $278,136, with two wins in 10 starts. She is trained by Victoria Oliver, who earned her first Grade 1 win at the seaside track.
