BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho work group says the state should expand its Medicaid eligibility, but committee members voiced concerns that their recommendation will be ignored by both the governor and legislators. This is the second time this work group has supported expanding Medicaid to provide coverage to the state's working poor. Their 2012 recommendation, however, has been ignored for the past two years.
STAR, Idaho (AP) — Authorities in southwest Idaho say an 18-year-old Emmett man reported falling asleep before slamming head-on into a law enforcement vehicle. Sgt. Mike Fratusco sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at an area hospital. Authorities say the driver of the SUV, Holden Falk, wasn't wearing a seatbelt and sustained more serious injuries but is expected to be OK.
CHUBBUCK, Idaho (AP) — A southeast Idaho police chief says all the information gathered on the fatal accidental shooting of a 5-year-old girl by another 5-year-old is being turned over to the Bannock County Prosecutor's Office. Noelle Shawver of Blackfoot died July 30 after visiting a home in Chubbuck. Police say adults were in the home at the time of the shooting but were in a different room.
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Eastbound lanes on a section of the main travel route through south-central Idaho have reopened following a collision involving a tractor-trailer carrying hazardous materials. Authorities opened eastbound lanes on Interstate 84 between Twin Falls and Burley after cleaning up chemicals from the Wednesday evening crash.
