LAS VEGAS (AP) — The 34-year-old son of a Nevada rancher who hosted armed protesters against federal agents in a cattle-roundup dispute in April is being released from jail in a separate case stemming from his felony conviction on burglary and weapon charges.
A judge granted Cliven Lance Bundy's release Thursday, about a week after he was arrested on charges of criminal contempt and violating parole. He has been ordered into an intensive drug-treatment program.
A warrant was issued July 8 after he failed to appear before a judge overseeing a drug-diversion program in Las Vegas. Bundy said last month that he underwent surgery that day for a nerve pain condition.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports his famous father, also named Cliven Bundy, attended the hearing and said he hopes his son will "start progressing in life."
