This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
In 1953 Dr. Richard Ellis I opened his first dental clinic in the Deseret Building on the corner of First South and Main Street in Salt Lake City. He practiced in that office until 1963 when he moved to a new location in the Medical Manor building on the corner of South Temple and 700 East.
In 1981, Richard's son, Richard Ellis II, graduated from dental school and joined his father's practice, eventually taking over. While the elder Richard has retired and comes into the office only occasionally for dental checkups, Dr. Richard Ellis II is now leading Richard Ellis Dentistry into its third generation of family ownership after his son, Dr. Richard Ellis III, joined the office in 2005.
Tricia Ellis, Richard Ellis II's wife, tells me that since their office is so well-established, it's very family-oriented, and they know most of their patients by name. Several of the employees have been with the company for more than 20 years, which Tricia says, is highly unusual in dentistry. Two of their hygienists are even former patients.
Dr. Ellis II has done his best to keep up on the latest developments in dentistry. Continuing education is an important aspect of the business, and both doctors frequently attend seminars and conferences. His father shared an office with a prosthedontist for many years, which resulted in Dr. Ellis learning to make his own dentures. The practice offers implants, veneers and all other aspects of general dentistry.
Tricia says Richard Ellis Dentistry has never advertised, so most of its patients have come through word of mouth. Because the practice has been around for so long, they are now seeing fourth and fifth generation patients which only adds to the family aspect of the business. Both Dr. Richard Ellis II and Dr. Richard Ellis III are committed to providing great dentistry and hope to see their practice continue into the next generation, as they welcome new patients into their family.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
