I realize I’m going to sound a lot like my grandfather as I write this.
“Back in my day, I could get a steak dinner at a gourmet restaurant for $0.75, and there would still be enough change left over from my dollar to take my wife to see the latest Mickey Rooney movie. Oh, she had a big crush on Mickey Rooney.”
So, at the risk of sounding as if I was in my 90’s, here goes.
Crown Burger, I’m afraid I can’t see you anymore. Yes, I am breaking up with you. I wanted to do this in person, but, maybe it’s best we don’t see each other face to face. You would just tempt me with your beautiful deliciousness, and I would just give in to temptation. So, I’ve decided we need to have a clean break, and I feel our break up is your fault.
$8.20 for a Crown Burger Combo?! Are you kidding me?! With tax it came to $8.80-something!
A Combo number two from Wendy’s is almost three dollars cheaper.
You know what I’ll miss the most? The fry sauce. Sure, I can make fry sauce at home, but yours was something special. Well, it still is. I could eat your fries all day topped with that wonderful cocktail of whatever you put in that stuff. I will always remember how the pastrami accompanied your incredible burger just right, and I’ll smile as I look back on how great things were, if only for just a while.
Oh, who am I kidding? I can’t stay mad at you. Hang on, sweetie, I’m coming back.
