FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Federal officials say they will send more water into Lake Mead, but acknowledge that it won't be enough to bring back the reservoir from near-record lows. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation says there has been near-normal runoff this year into Lake Powell, upriver from Lake Mead. That will allow them to send 10 percent more water to Lake Mead this year.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — North Las Vegas police say a suspect who fatally stabbed a woman earlier this week attacked another man he knew with a metal stake before the man shot the suspect. Police say the string of events began Monday when 40-year-old suspect Scott Brown killed a woman in a gated community in Las Vegas. He then headed to North Las Vegas, where he attacked the man before being shot.
ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — Attorneys for a former NASCAR driver say he's close to a plea deal with prosecutors who charged him with evading police during a 150-mph chase through parts of Nevada, Arizona and Utah last year. The Spectrum of St. George reports attorneys for 35-year-old Timothy Walker expect a plea deal to be finalized next month on the Utah charges.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas company has developed a smartphone app to let Sin City visitors hail a cab or limo. Unlike the ridesharing apps Lyft and Uber, Ride Genie contracts with about 400 black cars, SUVs and limos from several transportation companies. Ride Genie says all of the drivers are professionals and regulated through the taxi authority.
