BONNERS FERRY, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho State Police are investigating after a 43-year-old man died of an apparent suicide at the Boundary County Jail in Bonners Ferry. David Erickson of Bonners Ferry was arrested on a warrant for failing to pay fines and fees assessed after he was convicted of driving without a license or insurance in 2013. Officials say Erickson hanged himself during the night after his arrest.
KUNA, Idaho (AP) — An inmate at the Idaho State Correctional Center in Kuna has died of an apparent suicide. A prison spokesman tells the Idaho Press-Tribune that 32-year-old Sergey Bogomaz was found unconscious in his cell on Sunday afternoon. Bogomaz was sentenced in January to one to five years in prison for possession of a controlled substance.
HOOD RIVER, Ore. (AP) — Native American tribes in the U.S. and Canada are holding vigils along the Columbia River to pray for the return of salmon migration as the two countries prepare to renegotiate a treaty concerning the river. Tribes are pushing to include salmon restoration to the upper Columbia, above Grand Coulee Dam in northern Washington State, in the treaty.
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Ten days after a storm knocked down 13 large trees at Whitworth University, another storm knocked down 30 more big trees on the Spokane campus, causing minor damage to Warren Hall and Cowles Auditorium. The high winds Saturday also knocked down trees and caused power outages north of Spokane and in Bonner County, Idaho.
