Witnesses recall 'chaos' following Roy fireworks explosion

Ten people were injured Saturday night after a fireworks display went awry at the annual Roy Days festival, according to the Roy City Fire Department.

"It was good until everything started exploding," said Ronna Carver, a witness to the accident.

Of the 10 spectators injured, none was seriously hurt, Roy Fire Chief Jason Poulsen said. At least seven small fires, each about 10 feet in diameter, were spotted in the park following the accident, the chief said.

The cause of the explosion remained under investigation Sunday night.

Detached trailer blamed for chain-reaction crash on I-15

A chain reaction of vehicle accidents was set off by a detached trailer, causing serious delays on I-15 near the I-215 interchange Sunday evening.

The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when a utility trailer being towed by a pick-up truck became unhooked, according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Nathan Croft. The trailer bounced off a freeway wall, hit into the truck that had been pulling it, and pushed the truck into an abandoned vehicle.

Two more accidents occurred as a result of the 5:30 p.m. incident but troopers said no one was seriously injured.

Family devastated after death of baby left in hot car

The death of 11-month-old Skyah Suwyn of Hurricane, who died after being left in a hot car, has devastated her family. On Saturday, friends and family members asked the community to support the girl's family as they cope with the tragedy.

"It was an accident. If people who are being negative could even see how hard (Skyah's mother) is on herself. If they could see that she keeps saying, 'If only. If only. If only I wouldn't have been out of my routine that day. If only I had gone to the gym.' She blames it all on herself," Skyah's aunt, Aimee Wright, said through tears.

Friends and family are doing what they can to provide support.

A crowdfunding website collecting money for the family of Skyah quickly exceeded its initial goal of $5,000 Saturday, as many members of the small community, as well as contributors who wished to remain anonymous, offered donations they hope will would help the family heal.

Saturday evening, investigators were still trying to determine why Dattage drifted into oncoming traffic.

Idaho police ask for help identifying lost man

Police are asking for help identifying a man who may be suffering from amnesia.

The man, about 40 years old, walked into Franklin County Medical Center Thursday and sat down on the floor, police said. He does not know who he is, where he is if from or any other pertinent information relating to his identity.

He gave officers from the Preston Police Department a Colorado ZIP code, but the authorities they spoke with in Colorado did not have any information about him.
