This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Cory Chapman grew up observing his father's landscaping business, so it was only natural that at 18 he should enter the business … with just his two hands, a wheelbarrow and a shovel. Cory's hard work has paid off. Today his company, Rockscapes, is one of the most in-demand landscapers in Utah.

Here's one of Rockscapes' competitive advantages — once you contact them and tell them you're interested in discussing plans, they respond within 24 to 48 hours. An estimator will then visit the client's house, come up with general concept within a short time of the initial visit, then do full-color artist rendition with colored pencils and quickly have it back to the client. Cory always enjoys seeing something go from a piece of ground into a beautiful landscape.

An important key to their success was remaining strong throughout the recession. Cory says Rockscapes was in a position to withstand the tough economy, and in fact, their business grew, mostly because of his fiscal management. In addition, his success wouldn't be possible wouldn't be possible without his all-star team of around 20 employees. They're the greatest group he's ever worked with. He does his best to take care of them.

Demand for Rockscapes has been constant over the company's 21-year history. Their work speaks for itself, so you can check it out at rosckscapesutah.com. Their specialty is rock walls, but they also do rock features, like beautiful waterfalls, window wells and any other landscape job involving rocks. They'll bid for any job no matter the size.

Now based on a six-acre property in Salt Lake City, Cory says the location is one of their best advertisements. Every day their beautiful rock waterfall is being seen by anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 cars passing by on I-15 and is one reason Rockscapes is coming up on internet searches daily.
