Courtney Orton reportingA Westminster College student is hoping to get her homework back. It was stolen out of her car in broad daylight on a busy street, and it's all due this week.

Allison Jones is hoping the thief who stole two bags out of her car dumped them after finding the contents were of no value. She's hopeful she'll be able to get her homework back.

"[It's] all of my homework for three college classes, all of my textbooks," Jones said. That's a semester's worth of classes gone just like that when someone smashed out the window of Jones' car and got away with two bags.

But there was more than just homework inside the bags. "Tax information, all my CDs, a few pieces of jewelry; but mainly my homework, which really is a semester's worth of work," Jones said.

Jones is in her last semester before student teaching at Westminster College. She's worried now because her homework is gone. "It's all due this week. I'm really hoping to get it back," she said.

Jones' car was parked inside a condo complex. But it's right next to a busy street, so she's hoping someone saw something. "I'm hoping whoever took it took what they needed and maybe dumped the bag somewhere, and maybe someone can, if they see them, return them," she said.

One was a large brown leather purse with an orange, green and tan ban around the top. The other was a black briefcase-style bag with "X19-A" on one side.

Jones says her teachers have been sympathetic so far, but she says it would be devastating if she didn't get her homework and textbooks back.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office at 743-7000.
