(KSL News) Brigham Young University has confirmed it will not renew the teaching contract of an adjunct instructor because he wrote a letter to the editor criticizing the LDS Church's position on gay marriage.
Jeffery Nielsen wrote in the Salt Lake Tribune he believed opposing gay marriage was "immoral."
Church leaders have declared support for an amendment defining marriage as only between a man and a woman.
A few days after the letter's publication, BYU administrators told Nielsen they would not renew his contract.
