BOISE, Idaho (AP) — One of the nation's most patriotic holidays is right around the corner, bringing not only a jump in outdoor cookouts but also a slew of new state laws ready to go into effect. The new laws include allowing guns on public college campuses, renewing a tax rebate for films shot in the state and creating a new fund to kill wolves.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Department of Transportation says planned increases from 75 mph to 80 mph on some portions of interstates in Idaho are being delayed. The increases initially were planned to start tomorrow. But the agency says it wants to review comments since it announced last week the increased speed limits.
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A U.S. Sheep Experiment Station in eastern Idaho that is being sued by environmental groups could close. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack informed Congress of the decision to shut down the facility north of Dubois on Nov. 3. Vilsack there aren't enough scientists available to do high priority research because of declining budgets. Gov. Butch Otter says he will resist the closure.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — Yellowstone National Park is looking local and organic for its food service menus. The park's striving to make 50 percent of its food purchases from within 500 miles of the park or from a certified organic provider by 2016. Today, about 34 percent of the park's food is local or organic.
