MAGNA — Police released surveillance video Friday of men attempting to rob a McDonald's through the drive-thru.
The attempted robbery occurred around 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the McDonald's at 3670 S. 8400 West, according to Unified police. Surveillance video showed three Hispanic men drive through the drive- thru in a white Hyundai Sonata.
When the car stopped at the order window, the driver demanded money from an employee while a passenger in the rear seat of the car pointed a handgun at the employee, police said. The McDonald's employee backed away from the window and jumped out of the way before the gun was fired. The bullet hit the freezer inside the restaurant.
No one was injured in the incident and police said no money was taken from the McDonald's.
The men fled the scene and Unified police officers were unable to locate them Thursday evening. Police said the vehicle was reported stolen out of West Valley City.
Police described the men as male Hispanics around 20 years old. All three were wearing red and black sports jerseys. The men should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
Anyone with information about the attempted robbery can contact the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000.
