RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Las Vegas taxi drivers who say three cab companies owe them back wages for failing to pay the minimum wage. The court ruled a state constitutional amendment voters approved in 2006 raising the minimum wage also wiped out the historical exemptions that kept employers from having to pay it to taxi and limousine drivers.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — O.J. Simpson's feuding former Las Vegas trial lawyers have settled a breach-of-contract lawsuit in federal court in Nevada and a slander claim in Florida state court. The settlements resolved back-and-forth lawsuits involving attorneys Yale Galanter of Miami and Gabriel Grasso and Joshua Tomsheck of Las Vegas. Galanter is still pressing the Miami defamation case against LaVergne.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas limousine company operator and two top executives are set to take plea deals that would avoid trial in what federal prosecutors allege was a multimillion-dollar racketeering conspiracy involving prostitution, drug trafficking and fraud. Attorney David Chesnoff, representing CLS Nevada chief Charles Horky, tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Horky is accepting responsibility for activities at the company and will assume the consequences. He is due to plead guilty Sept. 25 before U.S. District Judge Robert C. Jones in Las Vegas.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada residents can now wear their state pride on their belts. The state's sesquicentennial committee has unveiled limited-edition belt buckles marking Nevada's 150th birthday. The buckles cost $100 each and are made of bronze and feature the state slogans "Battle Born" and "All For Our Country."
