Marc Giauque reportingA warning from Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies: If you're placing classified ads or publicly posting items for sale, be careful who you invite to your home.
Lindsay Martinez didn't think a lot about it when two people showed up at her door to look at the purebred pit bulls for sale. She was asking $1,000 each.
Before she knew it, the pair grabbed her, threw her to the floor and fled, dogs in hand. It happened in front of her 3-year-old son. "He screamed, and the dogs were going crazy, you know. I did have the mom and dad; they pushed open the gate after, but they [the thieves] slammed the door shut, so they hit the door," she said.
Investigators say they've seen it happen before, sometimes with worse consequences. At the very least, they say be careful who you invite into your house and make sure others are there.
Martinez tells KSL Newsradio one of the pups was returned this afternoon by a girl who said she'd bought it for $100.
