MULLICA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — A southern New Jersey kindergarten teacher who reported two five-year-olds after they emerged from a bathroom and said they had engaged in sex play will not lose her job.
An arbitrator refused to uphold tenure charges brought against Mullica Township teacher Kelly Mascio.
The 16-year veteran is entitled to almost four months of back pay. But the arbitrator found Mascio failed to supervise her students and issued a 10-day suspension.
Mascio was suspended with pay soon after the September 2013 incident and without pay since late February.
Her lawyer, Michael Damm, tells The Press of Atlantic City (http://bit.ly/1sBaGpD ) his client is grateful the arbitrator determined she should be reinstated.
