TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (AP) — Police are looking for a wanted man considered armed and dangerous after he apparently slipped away from a SWAT team at a home in Taylorsville. Unified Police say they believed the assault suspect was in the home when they surrounded it Saturday night. Police say they have been looking for Gustavo Samaniego since he showed up at his ex-wife's home in Magna Saturday afternoon and threatened his stepdaughter with a gun.

EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (AP) — A man who was flying a glider-style aircraft south of Salt Lake City has died in a crash at Cedar Valley Airport. The victim has been identified as 60-year-old Jeff Knell of Salt Lake City. Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Cole Christensen says he went down about 2:20 p.m. yesterday at the airport near Eagle Mountain.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has upheld the broad application of a federal anti-bank fraud law. The justices today upheld the bank fraud conviction of Kevin Loughrin, who used stolen checks as part of a scheme to take merchandise and cash from a Target store in Utah. Loughrin was sentenced to three years in prison.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Miss Cache Valley Karlie Major has topped a field of 48 young women to be crowned Miss Utah. She'll represent Utah at the Miss America competition in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September. Major won the state competition Saturday in Salt Lake City. As Miss Utah, she will promote her platform, "Get Real: Embracing a Positive Body Image Through Media Smarts," across the state, and act as an ambassador to the Children's Miracle Network.
