MOSCOW (AP) — Russian Cup winner FC Rostov has regained its place in next season's Europa League on appeal after being barred because of unpaid debts.
The Russian Football Union last month blocked the club on grounds that Rostov breached club licensing rules.
Rostov says the Court of Arbitration for Sport has overturned that ruling. Coach Miodrag Bozovic said in a statement Monday that "justice has triumphed." European soccer's governing body told The Associated Press that Rostov will now join the Europa League at the playoff stage.
Rostov's reinstatement means nine-time Russian champion Spartak Moscow loses its Europa League place, which it received when Rostov was excluded.
