KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals have placed outfielder Nori Aoki (a-OH'-kee) on the 15-day disabled list with a left groin strain. He has been the Royals' leadoff hitter in 64 games and has a .263 batting average with 14 extra-base hits, in 68 games.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — At the College World Series today Mississippi and Virginia resume where they left off last night when lightning suspended their scoreless game in the second inning. The Rebels are facing a must-win situation in the double-elimination tournament. In tonight's game Texas and Vanderbilt are meeting for the second straight day.

SPIELBERG, Austria (AP) — Felipe Massa will start tomorrow's Austrian Grand Prix from the pole. His Williams teammate Valtteri Bottas had the second-fastest qualifying time and that means for the first time this season a Mercedes car will not start a race from the front row.

UNDATED (AP) — In World Cup play today Argentina can wrap up a spot in the knockout round with a win over Iran, while Bosnia-Herzegovina is playing Nigeria and Germany is going against Ghana. The U.S. resumes play tomorrow with a match against Portugal.

LONDON (AP) — French Open runner-up Simona Halep (HAL'-ehp) says she is ready for Wimbledon and has recovered from a right shoulder muscle injury. When play at the All-England Club starts on Monday she will be seeded third.
