MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Maya Moore had 20 points and 10 rebounds, leading the Minnesota Lynx to a 75-65 victory over the Washington Mystics on Friday night.
Seimone Augustus, back after missing one game due to left knee bursitis, scored 19 points and Lindsay Whalen had 12 to help the defending champion Lynx (10-4) win for the second time in five games.
Kia Vaughn had 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds for Washington (5-8), which lost its third straight and sixth in seven. Kara Lawson had 14 points.
Moore scored on a turnaround, Augustus hit a jumper and Moore made a driving layup to put the Lynx up 55-42 in the third quarter. A 3-pointer by Moore and a jumper from Augustus put Minnesota up 65-51 early in the fourth.
Washington pulled within nine on a jumper by Bria Hartley with 3:08 to play, but could get no closer.
MERCURY 91, SHOCK 80
PHOENIX (AP) — Brittney Griner scored a career-high 28 points and Diana Taurasi added 14 points and a career-high 12 assists to lead Phoenix.
Penny Taylor had 19 points, including 10 in the first quarter, for the first-place Mercury (9-3), who led by 15 in the second half before having to hold off the Shock. Tulsa pulled within six in the final 7 minutes.
Glory Johnson had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Shock (4-7), who lost back-to-back nights to Los Angeles and Phoenix after winning four straight.
Tulsa center Courtney Paris added 15 points and 15 rebounds.
DREAM 85, LIBERTY 64
ATLANTA (AP) — Angel McCoughtry scored 18 points and had plenty of help as Atlanta rolled to its sixth straight victory.
Five Atlanta players scored in double figures even though playing time was limited for starters in the fourth quarter as the Dream took a 70-53 lead into the final period. Tiffany Hayes finished with 16 points for Atlanta (9-3), rookie reserve guard Shoni Shimmel scored 14, Erika de Souza had 11 and Aneika Henry 10.
Former Georgia Tech standout Alex Montgomery led New York (3-10) with 11 points and DeLisha Milton-Jones had 10. The Liberty lost their fifth straight.
New York's leading scorers, Tina Charles (averaging 17.3 points per game) and Cappie Pondexter (15.9), were held to six points each on a combined 6-for-20 shooting.
FEVER 83, SKY 75
ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) — Karima Christmas scored 14 points to lead a balanced Indiana offense as the Fever beat Chicago.
Natasha Howard, Erlana Larkins and Shavonte Zellous added 13 points each for the Fever (6-5). Marissa Coleman scored 12 points.
Epiphanny Prince had 18 points and Jessica Breland scored 16 for the Sky (6-6), who have lost five of six.
Sky leading scorer Elena Delle Donne missed her fourth straight game due to a Lyme disease flare up. Also, Chicago's Sylvia Fowles (hip) and Indiana's Tamika Catchings (back) have yet to play this season.
Zellous made a driving layup with 29 seconds left to push Indiana's lead to 79-73. Prince responded with a jumper for Chicago to make it a four-point game 6 seconds later.
However, the Fever made four free throws in the final 22 seconds to seal it.
