WASHINGTON (AP) — The head of the Internal Revenue Service has spent the day sparring with Republicans on a House panel that oversees the agency's activities. One Republican said it's "the most corrupt and deceitful IRS in history." The focus was on lost emails related to the ongoing investigation of how the agency handled requests for tax-exempt status from tea party and other groups. IRS Commissioner John Koskinen today told the panel that the IRS won't share with Congress any additional details about those emails until its own review is finished. He says that's because Republicans are releasing inaccurate and incomplete information.

BAGHDAD (AP) — Not all of Iraq's Shiites are welcoming the news that American military advisers will be headed to that country to help the Iraqi government stop a Sunni insurgency. A Shiite cleric today warned that the 300 advisers will be attacked. The cleric is loyal to an anti-U.S. Shiite leader whose militia fought the Americans in at least two rounds of street warfare during their eight years in Iraq.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Swedish diplomats acting for the United States have visited an American man detained by North Korea weeks ago. The State Department says the Swedish Embassy had consular access today to Jeffrey Fowle. The detention of the 56-year old Fowle, who is from Ohio, was made public two weeks ago, when North Korean state-run media reported he was detained for acts inconsistent with a tourist visit. It hasn't provided details about the accusations against him. North Korea currently holds two other Americans.

DENVER (AP) — Authorities in Colorado say the rapper ScHoolboy Q was in an SUV that was fired on after a concert at the popular Red Rocks outdoor amphitheater last night, but he wasn't injured. Investigators say three other people were hurt in the shooting. Their injuries were not life-threatening. Authorities say they don't know if ScHoolboy Q was targeted in the shooting.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks have finished the week with solid gains. It's a third day in a row that the S&P 500 has finished with an all-time high. And the Dow is also at an all-time high, within about 50 points of the 17,000 mark.
