LAS VEGAS (AP) — A consultant says tax money will be needed for a 50,000-seat University of Nevada, Las Vegas football stadium.
Bill Rhoda told project board members Thursday there will have to be public funding, and that stadium income and donations will also be needed.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1pm4Brt ) the project could cost from $500 million to more than $700 million, depending whether it's open-air or domed.
Rhoda, of Texas-based CSL, projects the facility would have 50 suites, 30 loge boxes and 2,500 club seats.
He says a domed stadium could generate about $8 million per year in its first five years from naming rights and sponsorships, while an open-air facility might generate $7 million.
Acting UNLV president and stadium board Chairman Don Snyder says that now the tough work begins.
