POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Idaho State University is stepping up security as a new state law goes into effect allowing some people to carry concealed firearms on campus. The Idaho State Journal reports the increased security begins July 1 with strict enforcement of a total firearms ban in certain areas. Campus public safety officers will also begin carrying semi-automatic handguns.
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A dairy worker captured on video abusing cows in a milking barn has been sentenced to about 6 months in jail. The Times-News reports the worker at Bettencourt Dairies' Dry Creek Dairy in Hansen was captured in an undercover video shot by an animal rights group. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor animal abuse charge.
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Yellowstone Club founder Tim Blixeth has received another legal blow from a federal judge in California. The judge says the one-time billionaire must pay a $200 million civil judgment for fraudulently transferring money out of the southern Montana luxury resort. Blixseth says he'll appeal the ruling.
GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon's famous wandering wolf, OR-7, is part of a lawsuit over timber sales. The conservation group Oregon Wild is suing the U.S. Forest Service over a timber sale on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest in southwestern Oregon. The group says the land is too close to the den where OR-7 is raising pups. The Forest Service did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
