WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is dispatching up to 300 military advisers to Iraq to help quell the rising Sunni insurgency. He's also challenging Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to create a more inclusive government or risk his country descending into sectarian civil war. Speaking at the White House today, Obama said "The test is before him and other Iraqi leaders."

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House is moving toward passage of a defense spending bill. The $570 billion measure would impose new restrictions on President Barack Obama's handling of Guantanamo detainees and require congressional approval for sustained military action in Iraq. But it would provide the funds for military operations, including actions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

UNDATED (AP) — About 75 workers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention may have been accidentally exposed to dangerous anthrax bacteria this month because of a safety problem at some of its labs in Atlanta. CDC officials say the risk of infection seems very low, but the employees are being monitored or given antibiotics as a precaution.

DENVER (AP) — Authorities in suburban Denver are searching for anyone who might have been inside a house that's been leveled by an explosion. Fire officials in Thornton say one person is unaccounted for after today's blast. Neighbors say the boom could be heard for miles. It's not clear what caused the explosion or whether there are any injuries.

NEW YORK (AP) — A prolific and multi-dimensional lyricist who with his then-wife and songwriting partner Carole King wrote such hits as "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," ''Up on the Roof" and "The Loco-Motion," has died.
