JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — Some of the best views in Grand Teton National Park will be a bit harder to see over the next month because crews will periodically close Signal Mountain Summit Road to fell and remove deadfall.
Park spokeswoman Jackie Skaggs tells The Jackson Hole News & Guide (http://bit.ly/1smiBXC ) the project is aimed at reducing the risk of wildfire and will continue through the middle of July. The upper 1 ½ miles of the popular route will be closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the project.
The overlook at the top of the mountain allows tourists to see for miles over the Snake River plain to the east and south. The turnoff to the summit is along Teton Park Road just south of Signal Mountain Lodge.
