NEW YORK (AP) — California Chrome's chances to sweep the Triple Crown for the first time in 36 years may have been damaged when he sustained a bloody gash to his right front foot during the Belmont Stakes. It isn't clear when the injury happened, but the colt's camp says it's not serious. Chrome finished in a dead heat for fourth. The winner of Saturday's Belmont was Tonalist.

TEMPLETON, Calif. (AP) — A pilot and passenger are dead after a small plane crashed in a private airstrip in the central California town of Templeton. Authorities say witnesses reported seeing the Piper Cub take off, lurch to the right and then spiral into an open field Saturday morning. The victims were 82-year-old Robert Berg and 66-year-old John Warren, both from Paso Robles.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The CEO of the Cleveland Clinic says he's told the White House that he's not leaving his job to become veterans affairs secretary. Dr. Toby Cosgrove says he's honored to have been considered for the post but has decided to remain with the nonprofit medical center in Ohio. The White House hasn't issued any statements on candidates to replace Eric Shinseki at the VA.

UNDATED (AP) — Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's family is receiving threats a week after he was freed by the Taliban in Afghanistan. The FBI says the threats are being taken seriously and investigated by federal, state and local authorities. Bergdahl's hometown of Hailey, Idaho, has been swamped with hate mail and angry calls concerning Bergdahl whom some people accuse of being a deserter.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — FBI documents say investigators found child pornography on Josh Powell's computer at least 17 months before he killed his children and himself. The Salt Lake Tribune reports the documents show the FBI was investigating the disappearance of his wife, Susan, as well as possession of child pornography. Powell ignited a fire that killed himself, 7-year-old Charlie and 5-year-old Braden at his rented home in Graham, Washington, on Feb. 5, 2012.
