ELKO, Nev. (AP) — A semi-truck driver who admitted he was speeding when he slammed into a car and tow truck on the side of a rural Nevada highway apologized to the families of three victims before he was sentenced to up to four years in prison. Samuel Rosenbaum pleaded guilty in March to three counts of involuntary manslaughter in the 2011 deaths of a Spokane, Washington couple, Michael and Marilyn Bogue, and Jesse Penegelly, the 20-year-old tow-truck driver from Wells.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Bail was set at $250,000 for a 25-year-old Las Vegas man accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a young girl walking on a shortcut public trail to school. He remained in custody Tuesday after a Las Vegas judge scheduled a preliminary hearing for July 8. Charges of kidnapping, sexual assault of a minor, child abuse and lewdness could get the suspect up to life in prison if convicted.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Washoe County jail inmate who escaped from a Reno hospital room and assaulted an officer before he was shot in the leg has been convicted of several felony charges. Prosecutors say 53-year-old Vincent Cordova Sr. faces up to 15 years in prison at his sentencing July 23. He was convicted Friday of battery, assault, escape and resisting arrest.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Las Vegas City Council is set to review a 28-page plan for medical marijuana licensing in the city. The plan includes restrictions such as barring distributors from paying employees with marijuana products or creating customer reward programs or drive-through windows. The council is expected to make final decisions about the plan Wednesday.
